Bowman Field is closer than you think

A lot of Southern Indiana students assume they need an Indiana airport to train in Indiana. In practice, KLOU is a short drive over the bridge from New Albany or Jeffersonville — often faster than reaching a farther Indiana field — and it gives you a control tower, well-maintained runways, and quick access to quiet practice areas. Learning to work with ATC from your first lesson is a genuine advantage you'll carry to every airport afterward.

I'm also familiar with Clark Regional Airport (KJVY) in Sellersburg, so if you fly out of there or want cross-country work that includes it, that's already in the picture.

There's no residency requirement for flight training; the only thing that matters is getting to Bowman Field for the flight lessons, and most ground work can happen remotely.
How far is Bowman Field from New Albany or Jeffersonville?
Roughly 15–25 minutes by car depending on where you start and bridge traffic — comparable to or faster than reaching many Indiana airports from the same towns. Bowman Field sits on the east side of Louisville just off US-60, a straight shot over the river.
Can I do ground school remotely from Indiana?
